Senior Commercial Manager

The Job Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to be responsible for providing strategic vision, operational planning and execution in the identified Sector at Serco Middle East SME, and for delivery of best practice commercial governance and the application of the Serco Management System for the Serco Business Lifecycle within the SME sector.
Serco delivers essential public services to customers in the UAE on behalf of governments, semi-governments and large private corporations.
This role will be based in our Dubai support office.
Key accountabilities
Pre-signature – to ensure that customer facing contractual commitments entered into by the division within the SME sector represents a positive commercial position for the company and comply with applicable legislation and Serco commercial requirements, including the SMS.
Post signature to assist with the adherence to customer facing contracts and provide effective contract administration functions.
Subject Matter Expert that provides a professional service to the organisation.
Ensure processes are in place or developed to monitor, reviews and challenges all commercial negotiations across the division to ensure key financial risks and opportunities have been identified and mitigated.
Assists in development of Commercial winning solutions for growth of SME organic and through acquisitions
Ensure procedures and key controls remain fit of purpose, reflect legislative and regulatory requirements and ensure team members plays a pivotal role at a detailed level, on those commercial negotiations that are either material in terms of impact on financials, impact on strategy or level of complexity.
Ensure Contract Managers and Sector leads have an awareness of the key financial risks and opportunities facing the business for their specific sector/contract areas, and ensure innovative initiatives are developed, aimed at addressing those risks.
Ensure key stakeholders in the business take an active role in the business lifecycle governance process including preparing appropriate documentation and processes.
Monitor the register of all opportunities and submissions and ensure team members keep this information source updated.
Builds strong relationships with key internal and external senior stakeholders, key customers, in particular the commercial, contracts, legal and procurement functions of those customers.
What We Are Looking For In Our Candidates
An experienced commercial negotiator with direct experience managing high value / complex / long term contract agreements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, presentation skills and report writing skills.
Is able to interact at senior and junior levels including C suite and Investment committees
Is able to analyse key risks in contracts and deliver solutions that affect growth, profits and cashflow of the business and suggest potential strategies to mitigate those
Is able to influence and motivate when recommending a course of action.
Negotiation skill – Is able to gain customer trust, set expectations, and accommodate requests but also diplomatically decline unreasonable demands.
Is able to work equally well at a detailed level and at a strategic level, as required.
Specific requirements
Extensive knowledge and experience of drafting, negotiating, agreeing and executing a wide range of commercial contracts / instruments including, confidentiality, teaming and JV type, framework, supply chain, sales agreements, etc. that represent a positive commercial outcome for the division.
Experience of working and evaluation commercial financial models for valuation and bids submission.
Extensive knowledge and experience in risk identification and management and structuring commercial contractual paperwork to mitigate or minimise such identified risks / issues.
Advanced understanding of the key components of contracts, terms and conditions and the legislative environment that applies to and affects such commercial contracts.
Good MS Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Experience of working in a multi-site organisation.
Staff management and Operational support experience.
A willingness and ability to travel including abroad, if required.
