The General Manager will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing a comprehensive logistics operation and supply chain within the Oil & Gas and Projects sector. This Role will be responsible for overseeing a team of professionals, ensuring the efficient movement of goods, and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain and logistics strategies that align with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
Continuously assess and adjust strategies in response to changes in market conditions, technology, and industry trends.
Responsible for the P&L of the department and delivery of country budgets in alignment with the other management team members.
Lead and manage a diverse team of logistics professionals, including logistics coordinators, and transportation specialists.
Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the logistics team.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials, equipment, and services.
Negotiate contracts and service agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
Ensure strict compliance with international regulations and industry standards governing the transportation, handling, and storage of hazardous materials commonly associated with the Oil & Gas sector.
Stay updated on changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to logistics processes to remain compliant.
Implement cost-effective logistics solutions while optimizing transportation, warehousing, and inventory management to meet cost reduction targets.
Monitor and control budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and areas for efficiency improvement.
Identify and assess risks associated with logistics operations, including supply chain disruptions, security threats, and geopolitical factors.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential disruptions and losses.
Establish and regularly monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
Lead and support process improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and automation to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and streamline workflows.
Uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental protection in all logistics activities.
Develop and enforce HSE protocols and best practices throughout the operations, ensuring compliance with local and international standards.
Proactively identify opportunities for customer development within the Oil & Gas and Projects sector, fostering relationships with existing clients and exploring new partnerships.
Collaborate with business development teams to identify and evaluate potential projects and customers that align with the company’s growth strategy in the region.
Educational Qualifications & Work Experience
Bachelors degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Proven track record of at least 10 years in senior logistics management roles with a strong focus on program coordination and asset support.
Experience in UAE Local Market/GCC transports with knowledge of both import and export.
Comprehensive knowledge of international logistics regulations and industry best practices, specially within the Oil & Gas and Projects industry.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Proven ability to drive cost-effective logistics solutions.
Strong negotiation and contract management capabilities.
Proficiency in relevant supply chain software and technology.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to deal effectively in demanding situations, to manage continuity, change and transition.
Strategic mindset, results oriented, and goal driven.
Familiarity with Dubai’s logistics infrastructure and regulations is a plus.
Extrovert personality with strong relationship building capabilities.
