At Amazon Payment Services (APS), we are focused on growing and developing Amazon’s payment solutions, with the best possible payment experience for our customers and merchants

We are seeking a creative, goal-oriented and highly technical person to join our Business Intelligence (BI) team, supporting the implementation of new business intelligence solutions for Amazon payments products (APP).

This role is both strategic and hands-on. It requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities, knowledge of business intelligence solutions, as well as outstanding business acumen and the ability to work with quantitative and commercial teams. The BIE will support APS businesses by owning complex reporting and automating reporting solutions, and ultimately provide insights and drivers for decision making.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and driven by a desire to innovate in this space.

Key job responsibilities

Work closely with multiple business teams to understand their challenges and provide data/analysis for better decision making. This will require data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.
Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use.
Assist in the development of key metrics and performance indicators to measure overall performance and provide foundation for continuous improvement.
Build self-service reporting platforms, establishing automated processes for large scale data analysis.
Understand and write high quality queries to retrieve and analyze data (ongoing reporting and adhoc requests).
Define analytical approaches and metrics strategy to uncover new insights and formulate recommendations that improve productivity.
Manage the local data infra-structure, as well as work with Global teams to assure data is consistent and accurate.
Own end-to-end data architecture for new product launches.

Basic Qualifications

8+ years of professional or military experience
8+ years of SQL experience
Experience using Cloud Storage and Computing technologies such as AWS Redshift, S3, Hadoop, etc.
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Bachelor degree in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems or related field
5+ years of experience in analytic roles integrating data into operational and strategic planning
5+ years of experience working with data warehousing and data engineering
5+ yrs of experience implementing basic software solutions to automate data source, visualization and/or data modeling application

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
Experience with AWS technologies
Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
Experience working as a BIE in a technology company
Basic Project Management and/or Tech product management experience
Organized, operational mindset with track record of delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality
Ability to understand operations at a detailed, practical level and also to think big / strategically
Exceptional interpersonal skills both written and oral communications
