We are looking to hire an Associate Corporate Counsel / Corporate Counsel to join our Gulf, Eastern Mediterranean and Africa Regions (GEM & Africa) legal team. This role will be based in Dubai and report to the Senior Corporate Counsel. In this role, you will provide legal and administrative support to our Senior Corporate Counsel, such as managing legal services, legal advice to internal clients, and assisting in the negotiation of contractual terms with third parties. Candidates from other locations who are willing to relocate to Dubai are also welcomed.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position?
Act as a company secretary and assist with drafting board minutes, supervising company books & co-ordination and regulatory filings
Assist with Private Equity Funds in multiple jurisdictions including but not limited to review of agreements
Support Senior Corporate Counsel with institutional clients onboarding, including review and drafting of IMAs
Keep abreast of regulatory developments in region and analysis of its impact to assess advocacy opportunities
Assist with funds registration and ongoing regulatory filings in the region
Draft and review financial services agreement
Provide administrative support in all aspects of the delivery of legal services which includes coordination of payment of legal invoices and expenses for the legal team
What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
Degree from reputable law school and distinguished academic and professional experience
Common law (UK/Canadian/US/Australia) qualified lawyer
0-5 years PQE in investment management / funds / financial / corporate sector with a law firm and / or within a global financial services firm.
Experience in working with a large international organization will be desirable
Thorough knowledge of legal customs/practices for examining, organizing, processing legal documents
Excellent command of spoken and written English
Ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties including Company management and outside business associates
Analytical and meticulous
Comfortable in advising and interacting with senior management/investment professionals on a regular basis
Ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems and ensure solutions are consistent with organization objectives
Seniority of the position title will depend on candidates years of relevant experience
