General Description:
The Applications Engineer is expected to be the point of reference for colleagues and customers alike, by keeping schedules and providing feedback, documentation, and information. Responsible for all activities around preparation and submission of equipment and package designs and proposals, including developing and maintaining written responses, managing proposal schedules and deadlines, as well as ensuring final review and submissions. Interface with the internal team as well as external resources and clients. Candidate shall be familiar with Biological, Chemical and Physical Equipment and Processes for Water and Wastewater Treatment; including but not limited to Aeration, Clarification, Filtration, MBBR, MBR, SBR, Sludge Dewatering etc.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with designers and engineers to ensure a cost-effective solution for each customer’s specific needs.
Serving as a facilitator from the start to finish of developing project proposals.
Develop and review contract bids for projects based on what the client needs.
Gather supporting documentation to make the proposal more competitive.
Determine costs and timelines and may outline a variety of factors that may increase or decrease them.
Review of client RFQs & specifications, preliminary thermal & mechanical design, costing and preparation of complete Proposals.
Responding to customers for Technical Clarifications/Queries and follow up until award.
Should have good knowledge of estimation & proposal preparation.
Sales Support
Analyze RFQs, RFPs and RFIs to create proposals and bid documents
Analyze RFQs, RFPs and RFIs to create proposals and bid documents
Read and review Bids, Tenders, RFQs and RFIs
Gather all in information required and supporting documents for preparing accurate quotations and proposals
Fill out applications questionnaires and prepare bid clarification forms
Create and manage folders on company server to file all related opportunity information
Prepare sizing and costing sheets and budget proposals for approval by sale and product managers
Work with design tools and application guidelines for Biological Wastewater Products,Clarification and Filtration Equipment, Disinfection Equipment, RO and DesalinationEquipment, Sludge Dewatering and Drying Equipment
Work on design of SBR, MBR, MBBR and Activated Sludge Plants
Works on design of Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration, Disinfection and Filtration Plants
Send enquiries to suppliers and vendors for updated pricing
Manage customer expectations and follow-up with applications engineers for timelyresponse and delivery of proposals
Communicate / coordinate with internal resources, reps, suppliers, and customers
Organize and participate in response-related meetings (internal and/or client), asappropriate.
Manage response efforts for client questionnaires, qualifications requests, salesopportunities that are smaller in size and/or complexity, and volumes/sections onlarger opportunities.
Work with inside/outside sales and operating managers to identify responserequirements and develop a realistic approach and schedule for the response
Update CRM with all opportunity related information
Coordinate bid and proposal preparation and approval with all internal stakeholdersincluding senior management
Provide original writing for proposals and marketing materials, as required, whichsupport the sales message.
Proofread and edit technical and non-technical documents for accuracy andconsistency
Ensure all designs are in conformance with contract specifications & drawings
Ensure all inquiries are responded to in a timely manner and communicate thistimeline to the customer
Obtain vendor quotes to build competitive and accurate project budgets
Write up Order Acceptance Letters; clearly identify what was sold, and resolveconflicts between proposal and P.O. regarding price, scope, and delivery schedule
Research Support
Research and gather information to include corporate information, product information,and other standard materials
Assist in keeping customer target lists and contact information updated
Maintain project files and project database
Support with maintaining databases including:
Competitive intelligence
Reusable components to reduce response time and quality on future bids
Case studies
Installation and reference lists
Sales presentations
Specifications
Proposal templates
Design spreadsheets
Develop, prepare, and update/maintain non-opportunity specific / additional salesqualification and reference materials in designated server folders
Work with supervisor/manager to improve processes, identify/correct problems, anddocument revisions to procedures.
Share information, knowledge, and best practices with colleagues
Maintain project folders and records for each customer/opportunity
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
3-5 years of Applications or Proposals Engineering in Water and Wastewater solutions
Previous experience with water & wastewater treatment equipment supplier preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Microsoft Office and Advanced Excel Skills
CRM – Dynamics 365, Salesforce or equivalent
AutoCad is a plus
Excellent communication, writing and computer skills
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
Good teamworking skills
Ability to develop, read and interpret engineering specifications and engineeringdrawings
Responsiveness & sense of urgency
Able to work under pressure & maintain deadlines
